Position Title: Development and Communications Coordinator

Pay: $17 - $20/hour (Rate of pay is commensurate with experience.)

 

Job Overview:

The Development and Communications Coordinator will serve as the administrative assistant to the Sunday’s Child Executive Board members, providing essential support for Board meetings, donor engagement, and event coordination. In this role, the Coordinator will manage all aspects of the organization's social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement across platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, the position will handle day-to-day administrative tasks, assist in fundraising efforts, and oversee communication with members and sponsors to help strengthen the organization's visibility, community engagement, and donor relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Board Support:

    1. Collaborate with the President to prepare and organize the agenda and materials for Board meetings.

    2. Provide Board members with stewardship information and materials, including pre-written email drafts for outreach.

 

  1. Donor and Member Engagement:

    1. Draft and send weekly thank you letters to acknowledge membership and operating donations.

    2. Write monthly newsletters to keep members informed of organizational activities and opportunities.

    3. Manage the organization's member and sponsor benefits programs to ensure timely and effective delivery.

 

  1. Event and Calendar Management:

    1. Maintain and manage a comprehensive calendar of all organization events and SC (State Committee) activities.

    2. Design promotional materials for fundraising events and campaigns (e.g., sponsorship brochures, rack cards).

    3. Assist in the creation of PowerPoint presentations for the Annual Meeting and other key events as needed.

 

  1. Communications and Social Media:

    1. Manage social media presence across platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, creating and scheduling regular posts.

    2. Administer the Facebook Member group, ensuring active engagement and a sense of community among members.

 

  1. Fundraising Support:

    1. Write direct mail letters for fundraising campaigns, including managing mailing lists, printing, and mail-outs.

    2. Assist in the development of sponsorship packages, working closely with the President on fundraising strategies.

    3. Provide consultation on fundraising efforts, advising on approaches to engage current and prospective donors.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or a related field preferred.

  2. Experience in development, communications, or fundraising roles, preferably within a non-profit organization.

  3. Social media management experience, including content creation and scheduling.

  4. Experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

  5. Strong writing skills, with the ability to create compelling letters, newsletters, and social media content.

  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
